Your Guide to Absentee Voting in Berkeley County

There are 2 ways to vote absentee:

Absentee by Mail

Absentee In-person

Absentee by Mail 

Note: Once you request an absentee ballot, you have to vote using that ballot.

You cannot cast a regular ballot at the polls on election day.

You cannot bring your absentee ballot to turn in at the polls on election day.

You must return the absentee ballot via mail or by taking it to the election office. See Step 2 below for details.

Step 1 – Application

Email Berkeley County Board of Elections at webvre@berkeleycountysc.gov.

Submit an application online

  1. Go to scvotes.org.

 

2. Enter your information.

 

3. Verify your information and select your absentee voting reason. Update: Reason 18 now includes COVID-19.

 

4. Choose Democratic ballot and check the box for which election(s) you are voting absentee.

 

5. Print and sign the application.

 

6. Mail the signed application to:

OR

Scan and email the signed application to:

webvre@berkeleycountysc.gov

They will mail you an absentee ballot starting approximately 30 days before election day.

Step 2 – Ballot

You may take it to:

On business days from 9 am to 5 pm or on Saturday, June 6 from 9 am to 1 pm. On election day, you have until 7 pm to bring in your ballot.

OR

You may mail it.

Be sure to add postage to the envelope and mail it in advance of election day so it arrives no later than election day.
